love the look of a platform bed and i am considering purchasing one in the next few weeks. But I am worried that this bed will end up making me hate it. My bed already is just a box spring and a mattress on the floor and to be honest I LOVE IT ( box spring broke about a year ago so I had to ditch the plain frame), but I am scared like the mattress will slide on the platform. I am a wild sleeper and I know you dont want to hear this but you know what else goes on in a bed...I do not want the mattress and us to end up on the floor.

I want to use contemporary furniture in my master bedroom. Something like a platform bed or Japnese bed. The size of my bedroom is 18" width 16" length and 11" height. My husband and I are looking for a platform bedroom set. We're looking online because he is in Iraq right now. We found one we like, and the store is based out of state so I can't just walk-in and ask. But I e-mailed the furniture store, where I want to purchase the furniture, and asked if there is a specific type of mattress for this type of bed. They look much thicker than regular mattresses (because there is no box-spring). They told me just to get a regular mattress. Is this true?

I just bought a house and am looking for an inexpensive bed. I've been looking around and finding lots of platform beds for around $200. Apparently they use a futon mattress, which I've never slept on.
