I'm moving our son to a toddler bed soon because of impending baby. He'll only be 19 months when baby arrives. He is developmentally delayed..not crawling, walking, pulling self up, etc. I was wondering how much luck parents with the Step 2 fire engine bed had in regards to their toddler not falling out.

I just purchased a fire engine toddler bed for my one year old. He's not starting to climb out of his crib yet but I don't think it will be long. Should I set it up in his room or just store it in the basement until I need it. I will probably have to get rid of his change table but I thought I could use the bed to change him on which would probably be safer. The change table is very large with high sides but he's starting to try to stand when I change him. Will having the bed in his room before he sleeps in it confuse him or help ease the transition?

well i just found this really cute bed that i wanna get my toddler. it can fit a toddler sized mattress or a twin sized mattress. but i do not wanna get it for him if he will grow out of it or think he is too old for it any time soon. My son will be 4month old in a few days. He has been sleeping in a bassinet and pack n play for all these months. He has outgrown the bassinet and Rainforest pack n play recommends only upto 15lbs(though initially we thought we can use this until he is 1yr old, as the ad is not clear. It says 30lbs, but its for the play). So, we have to find something for him to sleep on. I dont want to invest in a crib right now, as he might only use it for less than a year. I came upon a toddler bed (fire engine at Target) which I really like. Looks like it is not very tall from the floor, if my son begins to crawl. However, I would like to get some opinions from parents who has this bed. Is it ok that I use this bed for a 4month old? I plan to add some carpet and bedding on the floor where he might crawl/ fall down later. Any advice/ Recommendations on how safe is this? Thanks for all the answers. The rainforest pack n play generally advertises upto 30lbs, but when digged in the details, the sleeping is only upto 15lbs. If we had known before, we wouldnt have purchased this one. It might be a good idea to use the bottom portion as mentioned here. Thanks for the tip! I was looking in freecyling atleast for a month, and cribs go away fast before I could send an e-mail. CG is not very cheap, but I might have to go with CG/ garage sale. Thanks again for your inputs !
