Toddler beds?
My 14 month old son is about a month away from getting out of his crib. The sad thing is at 13 month he just started sleeping through the night. Now we have to face fighting him into a toddler bed, I'm afraid.
Are there any toddler beds that keep kids inside them? How did you do with keeping your toddler in his new bed? This is going to be a huge fight with him and I'm so afraid especially since we've been through SO MUCH trying to get him to sleep through the night. Any help?
My son just turned 14mo old. He wouldn't understand picking out a new bed or sheets...he is still a baby! He's not 2 or 3 years old yet.
I would never kick him out of his own crib because another baby was coming, there is no other baby. I'm just afraid he's VERY VERY close to climbing out and I don't want him to get hurt. That's all.He is in the 90th % for height and if he really wanted to, he could get out, I expect it any day now.

I recommend a character bed. My daughter has a princess bed and I tell he it's only for princesses and she has to sleep in it. That normally works. If not we do this thing where we tell her for every night she sleeps in her princess bed we will give her a sticker and after she gets 3 stickers, she can pick a surprise ie coloring book, bubbles, (stuff from the dollar store) what's great is that she forgets to tell us she has 3 stickers and she really on asks for a prize like once a week.
Well hopefully you will be surprised and you will just put him in the bed and he will sleep right through.
Otherwise the best thing to do is make sure he can safely get in and out of bed. Toddlerproof his room: including bolting furniture to walls. And put a baby gate up on the door. That way you can hear him, he doesn't feel trapped, and in case of emergency you can just step over the gate.

is he moving because of a new baby coming? if so try telling him you bought him a big brother surprise, & if you can get cool sheets to go with it. just relax & start as soon as possible so he can get used to it. try to put it in his room w/ crib & ask him if he'd like to sleep in his new special bed, it's ok if he doesn;t but keep reminding him that when the baby comes he'll have to use his new bed.
when you say he's about a month from getting out of his crib, do you mean physically?
I would start him out by letting him take his naps in the toddler bed at first just to see how he does...BTW most toddler beds have sides on them so they cannot fall out of bed.
Here is a link to the one I bought my son..it's a very nice bed.

Take him with you and let him pick it out. Make a really big deal about it and get him excited. Also, let him "help" put it together. He will be ready to sleep in it. It may take some time before he stays there all night but it will happen.
Why are you putting him in a toddler bed? Keep him in the crib until he has to go into a toddler bed
How do you know he's ready? My son is a little monkey, and can climb in and out of anywhere....but has NEVER tried to escape his crib even though I have been waiting for it to happen for months now expecting it to come. He is going to be two next month! Why rush him out...unless you need the crib for a new baby, I say wait until he does the actual escape, it might be later then you think!
I would leave him in the crib also. Mine is 13 months and no where near ready to get out of her crib. She just goes in and passes out. She sleeps all night and has not tried to get out yet. Unless he is really trying hard to pull a midnight run, I would leave him in it.
I have not seen or ever used it, but I hear there is something that can go over the crib to keep the baby from climbing out....some sort of tent thing. that may be worth looking into. It will keep him safely inside until he is old enough to be out sleeping in the open.
Good luck.
