How pathetic are the Nets seriously 49 points allowed in a quarter?
You don't want teams to get that in more than a half. I have seen a lot of teams get up around 40 pts in a quarter but 49 is just insane.
BQ: If Vince Carter was still on the Nets would they have a win by now?

I agree with you. 49 points allowed in a quarter is just pathetic. They're 0-18 for a reason after all. But hasn't it gotten to the point where we're all beating this thing like a dead horse? They're terrible end of story. They are so bad that the state of the franchise doesn't even deserve to be broken down to try and figure out how and why they are so crappy. In all likelihood, Vince Carter would have provided enough scoring and leadership to muster up possibly a win or two.
It is all about whether players are at least trying to play hard-nose defense - but the irony is Nets have sent some decent defenders like Hassell, Boone, and a pair of Williams on the floor to stop bleeding.
Okay better defenders like Battie, Najera and Hayes are wounded, but at a time when every NBA is aiming to reduce operational cost, lousy performance will only cost a player's career. As long as the roster is getting healthier day after day, let's wait and see how they can improve their game - should they fail to win a game before X'Mas, I can hardly see any reason why not to clean up every corner of the franchise.
BQ: with the presence of VC, their losing streak probably ends at 5 because he seldom gives up during the game.

If Vince Carter were on the Nets, they would probably have at least 5 wins by now. You have to wonder if they have mailed in this season.
I don't see them reaching double digits in wins this year. The real problem is that the Nets are currently up for sale and have been forced to slash payroll. Hopefully, Mikhail Prokhorov (the world's 40th-richest person) can take over the team before next year. The off-the-court issues have hurt them a lot.
