Can you use the top of an ensemble mattress on a normal 'slat bed' style bed?
We are thinking about buying a "slat bed" so we have a bed head however don't want to have to buy a new mattress when we already have an ensemble. Can we use the top mattress (i.e. discard the base) and put it on the new bed base?

Yes. That is exactly what I did and saved the price of a new mattress.
